Autumn 1968 - July 2002

Manufacturer: Demco (Milford, DE) & Delaware DMV (on-the-spot replacements)
Material: Aluminum
Colors: Gold on blue
Dimensions: 6" x 12"
Pairs/singles?: Singles
Notes: Based upon pictures of plates from this format, it appears that the FT4000 block was reissued when this base debuted, and then numbering continued from the end of the previous base. The initial run of plates on this base (mostly recycled numbers) featured an "F" with a straight leg, as plates were now silk screened, not riveted, which eliminated the need for a slanted "F". Plates reverted to the slanted-leg "F" after a few years and remained slanted until the state switched manufacturers from Demco to Waldale in 2002. The highest number observed on this base with a straight-leg "F" is FT8698. The highest number observed on this base with a slanted-leg "F" is FT8665. All DMV-issued replacement plates had riveted "FT" and numbers and slanted "F". Sticker box outline until about 1971, then "PLACE STICKER HERE".

Serial range observed: FT4000 - FT4999, then FT8137 - FT8698
(Only new registrations shown; numbers from former bases also observed reprinted on these formats)
